We had another great week in pre-k! We finished up our last week of the family unit of OWL. This week we will be doing some fun Halloween crafts and a pumpkin investigation! We are having our Halloween party on Thursday October 27th!

*The Early Childhood Welcome carnival is tomorrow, Thursday, October 13th from 3:30-5:00pm in the schoolyard.
*School picture day is tomorrow, Thursday, October 13th. Picture forms went home this week. Please fill them out and send back if you are interested in purchasing a package. Students should be in uniform for pictures.

Week 3 of OWL Unit 1: Families.:
Playing with Family Figures (BLOCKS): Engages in conversation and uses language to enter into play. Begins to understand needs, roles, and relationships. Builds awareness of directionality and position in space.
Clay Dough With Baking Props and Recipe Cards (ART): Observes and explores materials. Describes properties of materials. Uses simple tools and machines. Understands that print carries meaning.
Painting with Marbles (ART): Explores and experiments with paint. Describes the physical properties of objects. Coordinates body movements to complete simple tasks.
Reading Aloud to Dolls (DRAMATIC PLAY): Engages in socio-dramatic play. Initiates interaction with other children. Uses play to explore and practice social roles. Retells stories. Handles books appropriately.

Our first week of OWL (Opening The World To Learning Curriculum) went great! We will be learning about families for the next four weeks; our stories and centers will be family themed.
*The Early Childhood Welcome carnival is on Thursday, October 13th from 3:30-5:00. Sign up forms went home on Wednesday, if you plan to attend please send your form back in your child’s backpack by Thursday, October 6th! (See your child’s teacher if you need an extra copy). It is sure to be a fun family event!
